Quantum Computing: A Field Report
Speaker:
Professor Yuri Gurevich (Microsoft Research)
Abstract:
Each of us has a pile of I-wish-I-knew-something-about-that things. Quantum theory was a top item in my pile, even though I knew nothing about it. Last fall I had an opportunity to join a new Quantum Architecture and Computing group at Microsoft Research Redmond, and I jumped on the opportunity. The talk is sort of a field report from my journey to the quantum land for a quantum naive audience; quantum experts will learn nothing. I'll speak about quantum mechanics, show you one quantum algorithm and will discuss various related issues.
Date:
Friday, April 4, 2014
Time:
12:30 pm - 13:30 pm
Location:
TASC1 Building, Room No. 9204, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby
